A really neat online Pet Product shop
Step # 1: If you're already angry, don't even bother trying to teach your dog anything.
Step # 2: Visualize first, the end result that you want.
Step # 3: KNOW, you don't need physical strength to control your dog, he just needs to know what you want.
Step # 4: Establish several one to two word commands to use on the walk. NOTE: Talking to your dog in paragraphs, just sounds like "Charlie Brown's teacher to your dog. (Wah wah wahhhh)
Example one word commands: "wait", "side", "let's go", "slow down", "follow me", "keep going", "look"
Step # 5: Use these words repeatedly on every walk, to the point of ad-nauseum, coupled with a leash correction. Eventually your dog will remember what it means.
Step # 6: Along with the vocal command and leash correction, picture the command while maintain a calm assertive state of mind. Remember emotions like anger and frustration are not qualities of Dog Pack Leaders.
Step # 7: GO, the faster the better. If anything happens to distract or frighten your dog...don't buy into it, just go forward quick but calmly. Doing this will teach the dog, that as long as your in control there is nothing to worry about.
Tips for Older Dogs
My 17 year old Chow/Cocker mix, GUS, semi-deaf and somewhat blind. He also stopped asking to go out, in an obvious way. He no longer scratches at the door, just circles around the house...maybe he's looking for the door. He'll pee where he stands if a door to the outside isn't open.
